The Legend Begins

Long before the first boat cut through the crystal waters of Lake Texoma, before campers gathered around crackling fires on sandy shores, before fishermen cast their lines hoping for that legendary striper—there was Texie.

Born from the meeting of the Red and Washita rivers in 1944, Texie emerged as the waters rose to form one of the largest reservoirs in the United States. As the lake took shape along the Texas-Oklahoma border, something magical happened: the shoreline traced the outline of a dragon, fins, wings spread wide, tail curving gracefully through 89,000 acres of pristine water.

For over 80 years, Texie has watched over every sunrise, every adventure, every memory made on these waters. She’s witnessed generations of families returning summer after summer. She’s guided fishermen to their catches and protected swimmers in her gentle coves. She’s been here all along—a silent guardian, a legendary spirit, the very essence of Lake Texoma itself.
